RE: Full Fee Remission Program for Graduate Student Researchers
I am pleased to announce an addition to the Berkeley campus fee remission programs for the Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) title. Effective Fall 1995, all eligible GSRs appointed at 45% or more will receive full in-state fee remission from the salary fund source. This full fee remission program is for qualifying appointments in the GSR title only, and GSRs will not be allowed to combine employment with any other titles to qualify. Further, the GSR must also be appointed for a full semester. Eligible appointments will receive full in-state fee remission for that semester as well as the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) as appropriate. Please note that the partial fee remission program will continue as another option. Please also note that this new program will apply to all campus-wide fees but not to those added differential fees for certain professional schools (Business, Law, Medicine).
Appointment at 45% will also trigger the current nonresident tuition remission program which has somewhat different eligibility criteria. For your convenience, eligibility requirements for these programs are outlined below. All student appointees must be registered and enrolled full-time in 8 units or more by the third week of classes.

All student remissions paid on grant or contract funds for fees, SHIP, and nonresident tuition are exempt from indirect costs for federal rates used with modified total direct costs.
